Ginger Ackley's Music

Lark of the Clans... Celtic with a twist!

1. It Is Time - Liner Notes & Lyrics

The title track, It Is Time, was written aboard a cruise ship in the Carribbean back in 2005. It was a serendipity of music – a serendipity that came about because there was an almost-bad romance, which led to doing something completely different and special for myself.... and that was the Celtic Nations Heritage Cruise with Danny O'Flaherty that sparked the evolution of a growing hobby for music into a fully involved music career! Between some highly respected judges, like Danny O'Flaherty, Danny Doyle, Andy M. Stewart and Aoife Clancy, this song was chosen as the winning song. That same year I sang it in Ireland and the following spring performed it on an Alaskan cruise – which was the prize for winning the song contest!

The song It Is Time is about “leaving one place and going to another, but in a happy way” - that was the subject assigned during the contest. No sad emigration songs allowed! It Is Time is an expression of my love of history and family, which works well for another hobby: genealogy! The song opens the door to a musical journey that touches so many emotions and dreams...

Lyrics

I heard a voice from across the green
And it sang of a place that my eyes hadn’t seen.
Now it plays in my heart and it grows in my mind:
It is time to go home. It is time. It is time.

Well, the song that I heard had a story to tell,
Of the good times and bad times, of heaven and hell;
Of the road that was traveled by my father's kind,
And it's time to go home. It is time. It is time.

Now, the song and the story lie deep in my heart,
Of the land and the history of which I am part,
So, the circle goes round, now the journey is mine
For it's time to go home. It is time. It is time.

Oh, Land of my father and his fathers, too
I am making this journey to come back to you
For your story and song give me reason and rhyme
And it's time to go home, it is time. Yes, it's time.

I heard a voice from across the green

And it sang of a place that my eyes hadn’t seen.

Now it plays in my heart and it grows in my mind:

It is time to go home. It is time. It is time.

Well, the song that I heard had a story to tell,

Of the good times and bad times, of heaven and hell;

And it's time that I'm home. Yes, it's time, it's my time!
