Here are some songs I would like to share with you! I've put some tracks from my various CDs here, along with a few that aren't included on albums yet. I'll be updating with new music - including tracks from "Elf King's Horn" - my newest album that was produced by Brian Henke!
My music is available from my website here but if you'd like me to sign an album or two for you, drop me an email!
I hope you do enjoy the music.... please let me know what you think - and look for me to be playing a venue or festival near you, too! Check my calendar to see where I will be.
Another favorite, the Little Beggarman or Johnny Dhu, is the classic Irish tinker man, one of the Traveling Folk. His heart and his sense of humor are filled with laughter and fun! The tune is based on a fiddle tune called "The Red Haired Boy."
A third choice for the new CD - I love this little song! The melody is the same as the slow and sad "Wind That Shakes The Barley" - a tragic rebel love story. In "Maid" it is a boucy, saucy story - and lots of fun to share with friends!
Another song for the Traditional CD... first mix... What do you think? This is one the kids love to hear. The chorus of numbers in backwards count seems to fascinate them! I love the tune and the way the words wrap around each other... How about you?
An old English story song that found its way to the mountains of America.... There are lots of versions and I tried to choose verses to tell the story well. Please give it a listen and let me know what you think... Your comments will all go to make it a better recording!
One of my very favorite traditional songs! There are so many versions of it - and the stories told are so diverse - that I actually collect them!
Here is one that is just for fun and it is pure Filk! The tune is by Johnny Rivers - the classic "Secret Agent Man" - however, the words are all mine... bwahahahahaaaa!!! This is dedicated to all those wonderful Celtic Music Men in my life!!! That's me on all the instruments, too... love my keyboard!
A story song of a fairy lass and a human lad who fall in love... this is one I wrote some years ago, but it remains a favorite of my heart!
Here's a happy little song about the turning of the seasons - and it happens to be very kid-tested! It is one that my grandson, Joseph, wanted to hear over and over!
It often happens that Love just isn't what we thought it was - or hoped it to be! Hearts do get broken, but that is never the true end of the story, is it? Not at all.... because, if it weren't for those "failed" romances, we would not be prepared for the one we are meant to love forever!
However, that doesn't excuse callous or ignorant behavior....and yes... this is the end part of what started in "Lover's Lullaby" and a mild lesson in NOT hurting a Bard! Can you find the secret message? Here's a hint... I love acrostics!!! (By the way... if you figure it out, let me know!)
One night I was talking on the phone with a long distance friend who happened to fall asleep during the conversation. I understood... he had worked hard all day! I wasn't sure what to do, though... Just hang up? Make a noise and maybe he would wake? Perhaps, better to just wait for a bit....
I had my autoharp close by, as usual, and absently strummed a chord. Suddenly, I realized my sleeping friend was breathing in the key of D Minor! While I waited for him to wake up, the beginnings of "Lover's Lullaby" took form....
It was the first part of the story...
